Here’s a tip a friend told me about a while back, now I’ve tried it – and it works for me! Basically stretch a strong rubber band around your open tin of paint to create a ‘bridge’, and instead of wiping off any excess paint on the rim of the tin, use the rubber band instead. This simple trick helps keep your pots clean of drippy paint and makes it a lot easier to fix your paint lid back securely. But be careful when removing the rubber band when you’re finished! If you struggle with getting the elastic off easily, you can use strong tape to achieve the same results.
