How much do you take off?

This is the bench I wanted to finish off on the evening of our anniversary (which I didn’t).
It’s finished now – Old White by Annie Sloan over Provence with hints of the original (badly painted) colour showing through too.
Personally I like the distressed look – I love the way you can see layers of other colours which give the impression that it’s a very well worn piece of furniture.
For me – taking off paint (either sanding or rubbing) is as important as putting on the paint! What do you think, do you like taking it off or do you prefer a clean modern look?
