Just back from visiting Ardingly Antiques Fair -phew, there’s some great bits and pieces about.
Couple of tips and some pics for you
In my opinion the stands or stalls that are beautifully designed are often amongst the most expensive. For me, seeing stuff just piled up or spread on the floor would be fine, dressing it up is for the antique shops and other retail outlets where you expect to pay top banana. However they do look lovely – and sell great things, and if you see something you love, go for it (don’t forget to haggle though!) – getting inspiration for your own projects or window displays is free.
If you buy something and decide to come back to collect it later on – make sure you make a note of where the stall is. There’s nothing worse than traipsing around trying to find where you left that £50 deposit for a ‘wassname’ and not finding it! Antique Fairs can be very large and a lot of the stalls look the same. It’s also a good idea to walk around the stalls in both directions, it’s amazing how you can easily spot a ‘treasure’ from one direction after completely missing it from the other direction – if you get what I mean.
